About the Blood Type Diet


   From experience, I can say that I am a firm believer in the blood type diet. Since I have adopted new food habits that suit my blood type A+, I’ve lost 2kg in the first 3 weeks. What is the blood type diet? And how does it make itself more efficient and credible than any other diet? Are you tired of diets that don’t work? Then keep reading on.

   The blood type diet doesn’t necessarily stand for a weight loss plan, but otherwise, it defines better the way to eat. Just as the name indicates, the aim behind the blood type diet consist of following the correct food habits according to one’s blood type to maximize overall health and establish a harmonious relationship with one’s body. The blood type diet has also decreased the risk factors for cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases as explains Dr. Peter D’Adamo, author of the bestselling books “Eat right for your type” and “Live right for your type”. “The result: high performance, mental clarity, greater vitality, and increased longevity.”

   By pointing out the 4 blood groups, 4 different diets are imposed: 
  1.  Type Os are best on high protein diets due to their high stomach-acid content: its diet depends on the use of lean, chemical-free meats (except for Bacon, Ham, Goose, and Pork), poultry, and fish while restricting the consumption of legumes, grains, beans and dietary products. Type Os do well mostly on: kelp, seafood, salt, liver, red meat, kale, spinach, and broccoli. Sodas and sparkling water are beneficial to type Os unlikely to other types. 
  2. Type As flourish mostly on vegetarian diets, getting their proteins from nuts and seeds, beans and legumes. Meat and dairy are major factors in type A weight gain also, they cause sluggishness. Condiments like ketchup, mayonnaise, pickles and Worcestershire sauce should best be avoided due to Type A low stomach acid content. In addition to that, tomatoes should be exempted from diet. Type As do well mostly on: Pineapple, tofu and soy products. But beware, these foods are commonly genetically modified (risk factor for cancer), search out for Non-GMO alternatives.
  3. Type Bs are best on balanced omnivore diet, they enjoy a wide variety of dairy products. Meat and poultry are fine except for pork and chicken that should better be avoided. It is important to leave off most nuts and seeds especially sesame and peanuts but also corn, buckwheat, and lentils, as they are a major factor in type B weight gain. Type Bs do well mostly on: greens, eggs, licorice and tea. 
  4.      Type ABs are best on mixed diet in moderation, since, Type ABs are at times A-like with weak stomach acid, and other times B-like with genetic capacity for the consumption of meats. Type ABs can’t metabolize meat efficiently so it is important to watch the portion size and the frequency. Alkaline fruits and lemon are important components of the diet: the former balances the acid forming in the tissues and the latter balances out the excessive production of mucus. Red meat, Lima and Kidney beans, as well as corn and buckwheat are the major factor in type AB weight gain. Type ABs do well mostly on: Pineapple, tofu, greens and dairy.
