Hit Items of London AW13

I think that my favorite fashion week city is London. I feel like the collections being presented there are fresh, delirious, demented and above all, have character. I was somewhat interested to look at London College of Fashion MA and Central Saint Martins MA collections first. Now, CSM has the reputation of the new talents to look at, and I can strongly confirm it. However, I was surprised that the level of these MA graduates is not as high as I expect it to be. Well, except for a person, that everybody can agree on, Eilish Macintosh; and who as it happens was the L’Oreal award winner. One of her two collections included long black dresses she shaped by tying up ropes around the woman body in a truly effective and creative way. The other collections were a set of nursing outfits, so baggy and fade I would never imagine myself wearing them. Yes, no glam. The more flamboyant outfits were addressed to men—some models were wearing Fishnet Tights! Here I show only the successful items.

Former model L’Wren Scott’s excuse to launch her own label was too popular; she said clothes couldn’t fit her. Her line made no sense, no emotion, no sparkle, no story behind it.

From the things I liked the most were the writing clothes of Moschino Cheap and Chic, the rubber trench coat from Burberry Prorsum along with the metallic belt, and the coat at Mulberry… and the poodle they had on the runway too.

Instead of Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott from NY, we had Matthew Williamson and Tom ford for graphics in London (and famous Mary Katrantzou but she wasn’t as good as the previous seasons, but then I might feature her in the trend report). Williamson unveiled traditional yet delicate patterns, while Ford designs were more animated and festal.

I thought that Christopher Kane’s collection was exceptional!

Moving to some High Street brands, Topshop Unique and Rihanna for River Island were betting hard on the 90’s. Nicole Farhi, one of my new favorites, is so chill out and rock n roll I adore it.

CW#11: From Day to Night

It is late at night and I am here writing or summing up my most important events of the day into words. It was a long day at AUB; I had 3 classes starting from 9h30 to 3h15: Corporate Finance, Macroeconomics, Math and English.
Of course, I got hungry several times during the day but I managed to eat just once—a tasty hotdog sandwich from Subway on Bliss Street, serious energy rebooster. I’m yawning, okay. Now I can’t stop yawning when I’m reading this “yawning” word!—A vicious cycle.

After class, I went to Beirut Souks to hang out with my mom at the clothing stores and at the restaurant to have dinner. The place was in such an amazing and peaceful atmosphere. Not very far from the alley that would lead to ZARA, there was a set of music players playing their famous repertoire. We went to 7 for All Mankind and bought some perfect fitting jeans. I love to spend quality time with mom, it is not just about “shopping” but it is really her and her esteemed friendship and company.

I woke up two hours ago and I’m going to have this posted before I start studying… a whole bunch of assignments to do and presentations to prepare! Now let’s buck up!

I was wearing a Mango jeans Tshirt, ZARA leather legging, American Eagle faded denim shirt, Jimmy Choo x H&M leather bomber jacket, Kurt Geiger ankle boots, and a Gianfranco Ferre red vinyl tote. This outfit is very chill out, it complements a weather of 19˚C, and it carries you from day-time college chores to night-time fun.
