The Concept of a Bouquet Garni

The “bouquet garni” is a bundle of aromatic herbs (fresh or dried) used to add flavor and enhance a nicer scent to soup, meat, poultry and fish/seafood. These herbs can be tied up with a kitchen spring or tidied up in a muslin bag to allow easy removal after cooking time.
For a traditional bouquet garni, the herbs should consist of 3 sprigs of parsley, 2 sprigs of thyme and 1 bay leaf. Additional ingredients can also be added according to taste and preferences, such as: an onion cut in half, a carrot, some ginger, a few whole black peppercorns, and even a piece of celery.

The herbs have etched a flowery taste on the cooked shrimps (prepared for spring rolls), which now taste a thousand times better!
