What every girl should have in her closet are classics. But times have changed, and a little rebellion sometimes is needed—ditch Mrs. Granny look. That was the imprisoned little monster, which hid inside my wardrobe and caused me to have bad dreams as a kid, speaking and destroying my wardrobe—seriously; I couldn’t sleep with the closet open. Random shit, never mind.
I don’t like plain clothes, or at least a plain outfit. The outfit should tell a story and the clothes should express a mood. I reinterpret a classic plain and boring outfit by adding beautiful elements in a luxurious fabric or an exquisite cut—this is how I do classic cool. Timeless pieces with subtle details will never go out of style, and that is a worthwhile investment (because these pieces are definitely going to be more pricey than others, but it doesn’t always have to be a high-high-end brand)!
For summer, I would switch the black formal skirt to a tight white skirt. I chose mine with an asymmetrical cut to reveal my golden tanned legs. As for the blouse crush, I love the refreshing orange tone added to the monotone white and black—remember that an outfit should have at most 3 main colors, well, unless it’s a graphic. Even the shoes have their own twist; it’s not anymore the booties to warm up your ankles on a cold chilly winter day. You can now wear peep toed booties in summer, and I personally love it. Finally, the jacket is made from mesh fabric and it makes this classic outfit kinda cooler with the sporty feel it adds to it. This outfit can be worn day or night.
I am wearing an Aryn K Skirt and top, Noah Mesh bomber jacket, Chinese Laundry shoes (all available at GS stores); Accessories: Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, Gucci watch, Pandora rings.
